Burn Scars: Treatment Options for Minor to Moderate Burn Scars

by Samara Al Romaithi

Burns can be produced by a number of different situations that include being exposed to chemicals, electrical currents, and intense heat or radiation. Their severity of the injury will depend on the extent of the burn area and its depth. Severe burns can be life threatening while moderate burns can lead to heavy scarring.

The scars left by burns can also affect a person's quality of life. Burns caused by fire can cause constrictive scars that require surgery and grafting. Minor burns may not even leave any noticeable scars after they have healed.

Treatment Options for Minor Burn Scars

Burn scars treatment for minor injuries is a quite straightforward type of treatment. In this case, the person has probably suffered a first degree burn. The main objective is to cool down the affected area so that the surrounding tissue does not suffer damage.

You can cool down the burned area by applying cool or lukewarm running water. Cold water isn't recommended because it is too shocking for the skin and can cause more damage than the actual burn. Hot water is, of course, not advisable because it can actually continue the burning process.

After treating the burn the person should take a mild painkiller and rest. Once the pain and burning sensation subsides, you can begin treating the area. Treat the wound by using gentle products so that you do not further irritate the wound.

It is essential that you use good moisturizing products as a burn causes the moisture in the skin to evaporate. This will dry-out the skin for a certain period of time. An excellent choice, in cases such as this, is rose hip seed oil which will absorb quickly and help soothe the skin. Products made with ingredients such as snail serum also have a soothing effect and help boost the rate of skin growth.

After a few weeks of using these products, you'll notice a great improvement in your skin. It is common for the damaged area to be slightly darker than the surrounding tissue. With time, this problem will resolve itself, but you can also try microdermabrasion for burn scars.

Some Treatment Options for Moderate Burn Scars

One of the biggest problems related to moderate burns is that they can change the texture of your skin permanently and lead to scarring. These burns usually take about three to four weeks to heal and generally produce hypertrophic scars. After the wound has healed you can begin using a burn scar treatment.

The type of treatment applied will depend on the extent of the scar tissue. Some types of treatment include surgery, injections, compression therapy or resurfacing treatments. However, smaller areas usually benefit greatly from resurfacing techniques like microdermabrasion.

Scar removal with microdermabrasion is very popular because it is a no-hassles type of treatment that doesn't produce pain, unlike so more invasive options. However, it does require several sessions to eliminate scar tissue.

BIOSKINEXFOL is a wonderful product that is made with natural ingredients and can help treat skin burns effectively. With its mix of soothing ingredients and abrading microcrystals, burn scar removal is very simple. You can't prevent burn scars, but BIOSKINEXFOL makes it easy to treat them.
